SOCIAL MEDIA SAVAGE
Social media is flying like a fired missile in the air and its unlimited reach in the sky. We all spend plenty of time on Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, and many other such social networking sites.
Whenever
we get free time we try to check the notifications on the mobile phone to see
something magic on the phone. Even if many of us agree with this or not it has changed many
things the way we used to do with our changed perspective.
According to a study from the national institute of health1, there were 70 % of people having depressive symptoms within the groups using social media. Too much addiction and time spent on social media are linked to higher levels of loneliness & depression.
The new generation is the more who are falling to the extra usage of social media that is lowering confidence. People who comparatively browse social media more than others suffer the most.
Why social media is toxic? Why is Social media bad for others?
One thing social media does is show us the things that are not about the other users. Every one scrolled on social media is having a good mood, fun, trip to the beach and partying with friends, perfect couples, and things like that.
Nobody posts the problems that many of the people are not
interested to see them. The user who sees the mobile phone is
usually thinking about sitting in his boring room with his boring life when all
are having fun out there.
This is very rare from what the truth is as the only things shared on social
platforms are positive things.
When people are having a tough time, tension & stress they do not want to let other people know about this fact. Nobody wants to say it publically that they are lonely, sad, and depressed. What we only see on our mobile phones is the image of joy & glory and we think they live their life only in this way.
What all the users on social media do not show us what is exactly behind the images, banners, & videos they constantly publish on social media. It also happens that they have a lot more struggles, problems, and various stresses that they do not show publicly.
My personal example of such an encounter
I went out with one of my friends for eating "Burger" a famous dish here in Pune, Maharashtra, India. All the way from our apartment to the hotel and back to the apartment we only talked about his work colleague.
Both
of them were having disputes over small things at the workplace and he wanted
to end talking with his colleague. But he posted a picture of both on Facebook
and added a status working "late night". There
was huge audience interaction within the company, family, and friends on his
post.
This type of behavior can be noxious about others he is trying to tell how great colleagues are they while he is sick of his behavior. This is what social media makes change by creating transparency in people's lives. What people like to pretend on social media is not what they are. People here think he is having such a great time at the workplace besides knowing the real fact.
People also wish to have such an office
colleague to make their workplace a better environment to live in. This is where lower
confidence is born among many who watch such posts. This
makes the audience feel like their life is not in any way close to the people
who post positive things on social media.
People think who post positive have already
aimed many things in life and they know where to go while other people think
they do not have any path.
But the fact is almost many of them have not figured out their path or aim in
life.
This is because most of the people live the most boring lives behind the scenes that they do not want other people to know.
This
is not about having hate for social media. But this is about the amount of time
to spend on social media. Social media is like equipment and like other
equipment one should know how to use it. There are also social
media channel pages that offer tones of information and add value for whatever
business you do. It's
this Blog where you find out this article after all, for some through browsing
and for some through social media.
Here one should not get addicted to the
platforms to spend tones of time especially when some of the platforms are
designed to be addicted.
According to a report from Statista2, the number of estimated social media users by 2025 will go around 4.41 billion.
Even spending 2 hours a day on social media
is a lot of time spent already because this is the time spent on things that
are not useful.
Intake of things that are of no use for career and a small part of the brain is
used
for it.
Quitting completely on social media is also not something recommended but the time should be limited or less.
How to use Social Media platforms safely?
- Here one can take a measure to only add those friends who are spreading knowledge and giving valuable content.
- Stay away from fake accounts or the one that you don't know or friends that are of no use in providing knowledge & value.
- Many social media users have tons of friends on different platforms with friendships that do not have any meaning.
- The number of real friends is very low and the number of unwanted friends is more.
- One should make a good choice to whom to follow and whom to not in the first place.
- The more time user spends on social media is the lot of things he is missing in his real life.
- The mobile phone is carried everywhere and all have a habit to check the notifications even when they are not noticed.
- The time when we are in a line or queue we check our mobile phone for any new magic happening around.
- Remove applications from the phone which are not used daily forms a rare use case or one can even block the notifications.
- This way can avoid and make less use of addiction to social media and also help mobile hang problems to get control over.
- Even if one wants to make use of it, then head on to the website instead of checking the mobile phone.
This
free time is to be replaced with something else rather than checking
mobile phones. Reading books that give knowledge is the best idea to spend time
in a line or queue that offer value.
The lines for the conclusion are:
- Check out the number of time spent on social media each day and the value-added by it for your career or professional life.
- Avoid being one of the people who only looks into his mobile even when someone is having a conversation with you.
- The live broadcast is happening around you, so be present-minded instead of being absent-minded and nodding head on a mobile phone.
- Spending time on people's posts that you hardly even know about them and the real depth can be a useless thing and such a waste of pieces.
- Getting bored is normal human behavior and is ok sometimes to wonder how things are happening around you & live life in a way that excites you.
- If its use is not helping you in career & education, earning money, etc then it’s time for you to decide and fix a small limited time to spend on it.
